Apogee Desktop Services ensures vital IT equipment is delivered, installed and pre-configured precisely to the clients specifications. A one stop resource designed to save you time, money as well as being environmentally friendly. We cover hardware, software, and network connections; unpacking and installing at your site(s); and if required an introductory demonstration to the user/s.

At the commencement of the project a team would be formed to work with your IT Service department to agree a managed balanced deployment strategy to ensure an end to end desktop service with minimum disruption to the end users and the client as a whole.

The project team would be involved in pre-delivery meetings which would involve floor walking to agree access routes and to carry out risk assessments where necessary.

To ensure no data is lost during technology refreshes, the PCs are typically stored in a local centralised area for a designated quarantine period prior to disposal or re-deploying the old PC.

We understand the difficulty in implementing large projects within organisations and the small windows of opportunity that normally exist. We have considerable technical and logistical resources available to meet the needs of any project.

Our qualified team of field engineers will typically deliver each system to the end user’s desk as follows:

  • Disconnect the old hardware
  • Collecting and labeling the old system for final disposal as per our colour label coding system
  • Connecting power, network and peripheral cables to the new system
  • Transferring end user data, system personality features, printer and drive mappings
  • Acceptance testing by user or your nominated IT staff
  • Updating asset management records
  • Removal of packaging, re-used where possible, alternatively the packaging is sent to our recycling partner

Apogee DS deliver 2,500 pre-configured
computers to NHS Foundation Trust

This year, suppliers were invited to submit bids for staging and deploying over 2,500 desktop computers and laptops across the Trust and 56 GP practices in Rotherham and surrounding areas. Apogee Desktop Services were awarded the supply and service agreement and started the process of implementing a project plan, working to Prince2 policy standard and tailoring our services to meet the exact needs of the Trust.

Apogee stored, configured, imaged, deployed and cascaded desktops and laptops to desk across various GP practices. In addition, familiarisation training was provided to ensure every user derived the full benefit of the new equipment and software from the outset. Apogee worked as an extension of the Trusts IT Team and rolled out technology over a three-month period, while providing full project management assistance throughout.
