Apogee deliver 2,500 pre-configured
computers to NHS Foundation Trust

In January 2016, suppliers were invited to submit bids for staging and deploying over 2,500 desktop computers and laptops across the Trust and 56 GP practices in Rotherham and surrounding areas. Apogee Desktop Services were awarded the supply and service agreement and started the process of implementing a project plan, working to Prince2 policy standard and tailoring our services to meet the exact needs of the Trust.

Apogee stored, configured, imaged, deployed and cascaded desktops and laptops to desk across various GP practices. In addition, familiarisation training was provided to ensure every user derived the full benefit of the new equipment and software from the outset. Apogee worked as an extension of the Trusts IT Team and rolled out technology over a three-month period, while providing full project management assistance throughout.

Apogee slash carbon footprint
and reduce print costs by 30%

The cost of printing documents was identified as a major company expense to BGL Group. The legacy unmanaged print environment comprised of a mixed fleet of printers and copiers, stock piling of consumables, unpredictable costs for toner usage and service expenditure together with hidden costs associated with staff raising consumable orders and managing support calls.

All desktop printers were phased out in favour of shared multifunction printers with more advanced features and much lower running costs. In addition, Apogee introduced ‘follow me printing’ software, giving users the ability to print to a single queue with jobs “pulled” to any managed print device.

University saves £360,000 over
a 4 year period (24% saving)

Coventry University’s approximately 700 printer fleet was largely unmanaged and were a mixture of laser and inkjet devices, varying in age. Consumables were bought in bulk and stored until required by IT services staff or by other technical staff faculties, schools and services.

Apogee’s print audit to the newly formed Print Steering Board established that 14 million print jobs and 12 million copier jobs were generated per annum. We rationalised the print fleet by over 50% and introduced 230 new HP MFDs, all with FollowMe Print software installed in phases.
